I think the news reports are pointing out the Maxim modeling angle because the "Harvard" detail is exactly what you'd expect in the significant other of a presidential political speechwriter. News thrives on the unexpected.
As for brains vs. body...beauty is a social construction, we must all remember that. What's attractive today, in this culture, is utterly different from what was attractive 50 years ago or is attractive in another society. An obsession with a cultural standard of beauty, rather than a personal one, is based in the idea of women as a status symbol for men. This doesn't mean a man can't truly love a woman who fits this ideal, but he should probably ask himself some hard questions about what he's going to think of her for the next few decades.
If you have maturity, your perfect mate will be the perfect person for you in personality, intelligence, etc., and that will MAKE them the most beautiful person in the world in your eyes, no matter what they look like.

As to brains or body... while the body might attract me, without intelligent conversation, I fear I would lose interest quickly.
In choosing beauty you get a beautiful possession, in choosing brains you get a true companion.

RE: Ali Campoverdi: What's more important, brains or body?
Reportedly, Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau is dating Ali Campoverdi, who is a Harvard grad AND a Maxim model.
But, nearly all the stories out there play up the Maxim angle, and don't even mention that she graduated from Harvard.
What's more important here: brains, or body?
