A scenester is basically a person who goes somewhere on act. They overly accentuate and are basically wannabees who head anywhere that they feel will be considered cool. A hipster is naturally interested by something and they exude it. For example, a hipster may own a fendi bag with a nice, well made design but if a scenester were to own one it would be ablazened by as many logos as possible so everyone considers they own a luxury item. A hipster has esquisite taste while he scenester decides what they want by what others are into at the time.

Okies sources are available on different individuals opinions on the subject, but it is not a definite question. This is an opinion based on how a person sees it. I see the two as stated. Others see the two as the same thing. Someone else may see the two as opposite that.

Here are the 66 different definitions people feel about Scenester: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=scenester

Here are the 152 opinions on the definition of Hipster: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hipster

People argue this all the time as a philisophical question based on opinions felt and personal experiences. Hope that explains the position better.
