Nope, generally spiders stay in the corners of your home on their webs, waiting for insects to come to them. They have to have learned, evolutionarywise, not to walk into the mouth of a much larger animal, even though it is cavernlike to them. And the CO2 coming out would also be a decent warning.
There's really no reason for them to stray there.
But for a great and undeniable proof, I present you Snopes. :)

Great link, that is so funny that people believe just about anything that is circulated on the internet. Its a bit like saying "it must be true, its in black and white (published in a newspaper)" LOL

I kinda fear the flipside, that snopes and wikipedia are so canon. But so far they've only used their powers for good.

The general consensus is, no - unless you just have really unclean living quarters. The other urban legend that we are no farther than six feet away from an insect at any given time is much, much more plausible (considering they live under the ground and in our walls, not necessarily on our couch).

I thought the saying went "we are no father than six feet from a rat." I never heard that about insects before, but I am sure it is true. I KNOW I can find an insect within six feet of me at any given time. Flies, mosquitos and spiders are everywhere.

Well, that might be true too. I just heard the insect one from my roommate a couple of months ago, but I'm sure there are different versions (scarily, probably all equally true).
