Atheism is not a religion, despite what others may assume. Atheism is the position that deities do not exist, or the rejection of theism. Many people see Atheism as a choice or lifestyle, but in that sense wouldn't believing that life is just a dream be a religion too? There has been many speculation on this subject, ie: Religious and spiritual belief systems such as forms of Buddhism that do not advocate belief in gods, have been described as atheistic.

There is alot of points that people make that deems Atheism as a religion, but the key concept that discerns those points: is the fact that Atheism by definition is the absence of belief in religion and their lifestyles. Everybody is entitled to their opinion on this matter, but I'm pretty sure Atheists don't want to be classified as a religion; the very thing they try to avoid.

Here's a site of another writer's opinon on how Atheism can never be a religion:

It is a religion. not in the same sense as Christianity or Islam, but is is a religion. Atheism is a belief. A belief that there is no deity. Yet there are atheistic groups where people of like belief gather or communicate to share their belief and support each other in their belief. This is similar to what other religions do. I see no difference except in their dogma.
