Good grief, yes! My first motivation would be that it's belonged to him, so it would be a family treasure. It might well raise other questions (where'd he get it? What did it mean to him?) that would be fun to answer.
Second, there's the search itself that would be a challenge. "Where no one can find it", eh? Grampa, you're on!!
Third, there would be the intrigue. Did he hide something else with it? Maybe for a special, super-curious, relentless descendent? What house was he in when he made the statement?
Good luck with the hunt - it sounds fun!

Actually you may want to put the podcast in your ipod and listen whilst you search... but unless you actually have any leads to point you in the right direction its going to be tough (he hid it well for a reason...) and so i probably wouldn't obsess about it to much

If your granddad had a sword, and hid it so that no one would get it, would you try to find it?
i've heard that he hid a sword somewhere in his house so that no one could find it. and even when he was dieing, he didn't tell where it is. i'm told that it could have value and i was just wondering.

• it appears that everyone is on the same side, but this takes it alittle further. if i ever go back out west, and see the house, i'll diffentently see if i can find it. thanks for the helpful answer.

Yes... However if anyone started talking about the "grand design of nine" I'd be extremely worried. http://jchutchins.net/site/personal-effects-sword-of-blood/
