"New York" sounds good. I was born in New York, New York. Of course, then people might think I lived in "that" Albany.

If I were female I could be Virginia or Georgia. :)

As I'm male... well none of them sound that great. A lot sound rather girly or antiquated for a modern male first name.

I might try Louisiana, and hope people just call me "Lou".

"Nevada" has a nice ring to it, and it's not too long.

Ok I'll go with that.

I'd be FLORIDA.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/tomadeek/FloridaEvans.jpg

(she could kick the daylights out of INDIANA Jones, Hannah MONTANA, DAKOTA Fanning, and VIRGINIA Madsen combined.)

In case I'm not awesome enough to live up to Florida Evans, then my second choice would be Minnesota. Then I could go by "Minnie".

Worst possible names: New Hampshire, Idaho, and Utah

I would choose to be named after the state Virginia. Virginia is a name that is sometimes given to girls anyway. This way, I wouldn't end up having a "Juno" complex since otherwise I would have the most unique, off beat name in the classroom. My nickname could be Ginny, but since I do not have red hair I doubt I would get too many Harry Potter comments.

I'd choose Tennessee. Why?

1. It's where I am from.
2. It would honor my Native American heritage.
3. I think it sounds cool, and it's unique.
4. It's actual meaning is unknown, and I find that interesting. It most likely meant "meeting place" or "winding river," but it appears its actual Cherokee-meaning has been lost forever.
5. I'd be in good company to share a name with people like Tennessee Williams (although not his birth name) and Tennessee Thomas (female musician).

I'd pick New Jersey. When it was named it was taken from the British Channel Island, Jersey.

If I had to be named after a state, I would choose Kansas. I like how it sounds. I think it sounds like a powerful name. Maybe is the consonant-vowel combination, that makes the name of this state sound so powerful.

I would choose Texas of course!
That southern charm along with the southern drawl would make it easy to recognize and remember my name. Texas is a strong State and so having Texas as a name, it would represent strength. And in Texas, true Texans are always polite, the state where grown men still say yes ma'am and open doors for you. And I am a proud native Texan!
My favorite bumper sticker is, " I am not a native Texan, but I got here as quick as I could!"

I was thinking about New Mexico, because it will never sound old.

But the one I really like is Hawaii. As in Hawaii McMillan.

California.

I'm from California, and in fact lived there for the great majority of my life so far. I have since moved, but naturally feel a strong connection to my home state.

Plus, California sounds cool.
