*disclaimer - I am not a lawyer
From what my lawyer friends have told me this kind of plea deal was likely reached by the prosecution to help out the victim’s family. Stallworth has already settled financially with the family and with that settlement it might be in there best interest if he can go back to playing football and making money (it is possible that they agreed that a portion of his yearly NFL contract would be going to the family). While the prosecutor has to fight in court for the law they also have a responsibility to protect the victim’s family, which is where this kind of deal would make sense.
Either that or the legal system is just a joke... whichever option works best for you!

> He made an out of court financial settlement with the family
> He no doubt had the best lawyer money can buy!
> After his release from jail, he must serve two years of house arrest and spend eight years on probation. The house arrest provisions will allow him to resume his football career though.
> The NFL may suspend Hallworth for some games this year as an additional punishment

How does Donte Stallworth get only 24 days in prison after DWI manslaughter (.126 BAC)? Interesting.

Vicks 2 years was actually not because he killed dogs (though his actions did result in such)... he was found guilty of FUNDING an illegal gambling ring that happen to involve dog fighting.

It appears as well that Stallworth had all of the following to take into account: > He made an out of court financial settlement with the family
> He no doubt had the best lawyer money can buy!
> After his release from jail, he must serve two years of house arrest and spend eight years on probation. The house arrest provisions will allow him to resume his football career though.
> The NFL may suspend Hallworth for some games this year as an additional punishment
