Next Question
Not likely. Even if you inhale cigar smoke (not advisable), I doubt you would affect your craving for cigarrettes very much.
First, two major components govern a person's addiction to smoking cigarettes. The most obvious one is the nicotine, but many many people smoke less than half a pack per day, so their nicotine levels are fairly low, but they find it hard to quit as well. Nicotine is said to be as addictive as opiates, so if the cigarette count is high, so a withdrawal will be expected.
The second factor is the behavioral one. A Freudian view of the use of cigars and cigarettes would suggest a craving for the oral satisfaction they give. This is not to be considered lightly as smokers tend also to be nail biters, etc. The hand/mouth connection to smoking is a strong one.
Therefore, the use of a cigar would be better if you are a strong orally aligned person whose need to have the hand/mouth movement. Fake cigarettes and puffing a pretzel log might do the same thing.
Frankly a whole-person smoking cessation program like at StopSmoking.com would be better. Once you are a cigar smoker, you are still at quite a risk of some very unpleasant diseases, so a cigar can only be a temporary fix, and if it is not, you'll be looking for a way to kick cigars soon.
