I agree the quote "...we're not going to talk about spirituality and religion, although I will tell you that I have achieved a deathbed conversion... I just bought a Macintosh." does sound as though he is saying that doesn't follow a particular religion. I did a search to see if I could find more info about his beliefs but I couldn't really find anything conclusive. I can tell you that:- His Cancer Update page (kind of like a blog) never mentioned religion. (http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/news/index.html and http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/shortsummary.html)
- 3waystolive.com (http://www.3waystolive.com/2007/10/randy-pausch-and-the-meaning-of-life.html) is convinced he was not a Christian.
- The Christian Critical Thinker thought Christ was missing from Randy's last lecture. (http://www.thechristiancriticalthinker.com/2008/04/lecture-that-is-sweeping-nation.html)
- In an interview with Diane Sawyer, he said his father was the "most christian" man he ever met--his father was a Presbyterian. But Randy did not want to talk about his own religion--he wanted to keep it private. You can watch the interview here: http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=4626595
- He does know the Serenity Prayer.
