BettertheWorld, Causecast, Change.org, Gaia, Kiva, SocialActions, SocialVibe, YouChoose etc. what's the difference among these sites?

How are each of these sites changing our world with examples or case studies on each? Are people joining them to associate with people who want to change the world, or are people really doing something on these sites that really makes something better in our world? What are the difference in causes, and which make the greatest impact, and why? Are there any other sites like these that you would recommend joining or using, and why do you think they are important to changing our world?

Presently, bettertheworld.com supports nineteen separate causes, including this one,

http://www.bettertheworld.com/cause/Helping-Hospitals-Help-Kids/

causecast.org defines itself this way,

"Causecast, dubbed "a one stop philanthropy shop" by TechCrunch, is a platform where media, philanthropy, social networking, entertainment and education converge to serve a greater purpose.

People want to do good, want to be inspired, and want to inspire others to join them in giving back. Causecast makes this easy by providing users with means to CONNECT with people, leaders, charities, nonprofit organizations, and brands that inspire them."

One of the participating organizations is farm sanctuary who defines their mission as;

"Since 1986, Farm Sanctuary has worked to end cruel practices of the “food animal” industry while educating consumers about factory farming and the benefits of a cruelty-free lifestyle. Through direct rescue, education and advocacy, we are changing the way society views and treats farm animals."

In their terms of use, gaia.com states,

"Gaia provides an opportunity for you to explore and express your greatest potential. So while you're here, embody your truest, most authentic self. Practice being that amazing person, and practice seeing and encouraging that spirit in others. After all, every interaction you have here is an opportunity to contribute to more love, more compassion, and more understanding in the world. It's why we're here. :)"

kiva.org is dedicated to leading money to deserving entrepreneurs in developing countries. One person who I loaned money to is;

"Jumaboi Khojiev lives in Mastchokh and he is married with seven children. Jumaboi Khojiev has been a client of MicroInvest since 2006 and his loan sums are permanently increased which shows his business's stability and development. He has a wide-side business including the meat and milk production and its work out. He dreams of purchasing a horn pedigree bull and a cow for further meat and milk and sour milk goods production (its supply to the bazaars and the family is secure by the meat and milk-sour products)."

socialactions.com says:

"We help you find and share opportunities to change the world.

* First, we collect ways to get involved in the causes you care about from these 50+ action sources, including Care2, Change.org, DonorsChoose.org, DemocracyinAction, GlobalGiving, Idealist, Kiva, SixDegrees and VolunteerMatch.

* Then, we make it easy for you to find these opportunities by presenting them in a user-friendly search engine.

* We also encourage nonprofits, companies, and third-party developers to create online tools that help you share ways for others to take action on your website, blog, or mobile device."

youchoose.net lists twelve different areas, with thousands of campaign,
including;

Let Dale Earnhardt Keep #8 which is a petition to let Dale Earnhardt Jr. keep the number 8 on his car.

The petition was unsuccessful as Earnhardt now uses 88.
