The Padre went silent for a while, but yesterday (May 12) he conducted a TV interview where he made this statement (translated from Spanish):
"I believe I can serve God outside of the Catholic Church's Structure."
" I have always felt like a twenty-first-century man that is a bit trapped within an eighteenth-century institution"
"I tried to be faithful to Christ with all my heart, but I failed"
"There is no crime here. there guilt? Do I feel bad or horrible? No! I am a man. Under this cassock there are pants"
"The Church is committed to its truth. That is Fine! But, that just did not work out for me. I am not saying that it shouldn't work out for my priestly brothers nor the rest of Gods people. If they want to be Catholics, may God bless them, but, that just did not work out for me."
When shown the scandalous pictures, and asked to comment on them, Padre Alberto said:
"That is called love. What can I say?"
When asked if he plans to marry the woman, Padre Alberto said:
"Getting married would be the normal to do, it not? I have wrestled with that idea for a long time. Since I was young, I always dreamed of being married, of having 10 children.
When asked if he had had a sexual relationship with the woman, Padre Alberto, abstained from answering, and instead stated:
"In life we all need intimacy, sometimes that intimacy is translated as sex. ... But, when you see people that love each other intimately and they are friends and they have a special connection, sex does not always have to be of it."
"There are other ways to serve God. I am not the same man I was when I entered the seminary"
