Whoever came up with this saying is trying to be ironic.If you think hard about it this statement basically means if someone you know needs help with something they will pretend to be your friend and ditch you after that.They were never really your friend when they needed something,they were just being nice in order to use.That is why i believe that a friend in need is a not friend indeed.
