Leadership is not a word to be used lightly, as it defines a person with the trait of great capacity in the means of guidance, direction, intuitiveness and instinct. From experiences from my family I know this only because of the effectivity a good leader can have in groups, and how leadership, can make, or break a situation or cause. This has been shown to me in father's work of geophysics, as he manages 100+ workers, and as he requires to lead the group in the correct direction. He requires that of great charisma to connect with all and lead the group in the right way, but as well the keen eye of instinct to see those falling behind, and aid them.

I hope this helps you on the question! If you need anything more, or if I misunderstood your question, I'd be delighted to fix it.

ah... By seeing @keepontrying's post I see what I did wrong. I suppose as a Grabber sentence

Leadership is not a word to be used lightly, as I have seen that it defines not only a person with the trait of great capacity in the means of guidance, direction, intuitiveness and instinct.

Good job, but being a writer, I have to do this. There were a few grammatical errors in your paragraph. Please don't take this personally, we all make mistakes...even me. Sometimes we type faster than we think...

Leadership is not a word to be used lightly, as it defines a person with the trait of great capacity in the means of guidance, direction, INTUITION, and instinct. From experiences WITHIN MY family I know this only because of the EFFECT a good leader can have in groups,(omit some commas) and how leadership can make or break a situation or cause. This has been shown to me in MY father's work in geophysics, as he manages 100+ workers, and as he requires to lead the group in the APPROPRIATE direction. He requires (omit "that of") great charisma to connect with all and lead the group in the right way, but as well the keen eye of instinct to see those falling behind, and aid them.

Grabber sentence:

"Almost every person over thirteen is convinced that they have a clear understanding of what it means to be a leader. So was I."

From here, you go on to describe an event or person or experience, or a period of time in your life, where you came to truly understand, for the first time, what real leadership was all about.

Good luck.

I like your grabber sentence.

Good sentence, but two thoughts...

1) Why put in "every person over 13", that just complicates and weakens the opening without adding a lot.

2) It's going to work best if you go on to describe an event that really changed your previous understanding of leadership.

Leaders lead, so please join me in discussing/looking at/grabbing towards...

Or leadership is part nature and part nurture. It is composed of social intelligence, energy, and most importantly vision...

THANKS, I hope this helps

It is a rare and privileged thing to be looked up to in our personal lives and in our work: to be trusted, to be an example, to be a leader.

"Common are those compliant enough to follow effectively; rare are those confident enough to lead effectively."

Not to toot my own horn, but I would say that's a good one!

Leadership is often considered as someone who can have every answer needed and complete any job without help when in fact leadership is an ability to get a job done with the best resources available including qualified personnel.

What they seem to be looking for here is a demonstration of your own leadership qualities and your own understanding of leadership.

Using someone else's line, however impactful, may backfire. You won't speaking in your own voice, and you may come over as phony.

But if you're stuck for inspiration, a good way to go may be to find a famous quote that you either whole-heartedly agree with, or profoundly disagree with. Then you can open with something like....

'Mahatma Gandhi said: "Be the change you want to see in the world". This simple statement reflects the essence of leadership....'

'Machiavelli said: 'It is better to be feared than loved", a view of leadership which seems to be all too common in the world. However....'

Whatever you do, write in your own voice, and write what you truly believe.

There's not many things that suggest a lack of true leadership more than the suspicion that a person is just parroting what they heard someplace else in the hopes it'll sound good.

I didn't write this, but it's still one of my favorites:

"Announcement: For lack of Good Followers, the call for Good Leaders has been cancelled."
