What is the relationship between Vietnam and China?
Explain the political and military tensions between these two countries

I firmly believe that their relation is getting much much better these days. Before, the tension arise because of regional rivalry and borders issues.
Vietnam suspects that China is trying to invade them, it got worse when Vietnam helps the Cambodian government in fighting the Khemer Rouge, which was the China allies during that time. After a few occasion happened, they went for a Sino-Vietnam war. But that is all in the past.
After the collapse of Soviet Union regime and Vietnam exiting Cambodia, the ties between these 2 countries becomes better. They had signed so many agreements at state level, laying legal foundation for long lasting cooperation between the two countries. Both sides have reopened airlines, railways, sea routes and roads, facilitating the transportation of goods and passengers between the two countries. The exchanges of delegations at State and local levels are increasing. Every year, more than 100 delegations at ministerial, departmental, local and grass-root levels of both sides are exchanged. These activities have contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and trust and expanding the bilateral cooperation.
