What is "Russell's Teapot" and who first coined the phrase?

Russell's Teapot (aka the Celestial Teapot) was an analogy intended to refute the idea that the burden of proof lies upon the sceptic to disprove unfalsifiable claims of religions. It was first coined in 1952 by the philosopher Bertrand Russell.
