* Xitong
Groups of bureaucracies that together deal with a broad tasks that the top political leaders want performed.
Six major Xitongs:
1) party affairs
2) organization and personnel
3) propaganda and education
4) political and legal affairs
5) finance and economics
6) military
Prior to the mid1980's when the change began, there were three essential characteristics in China's social structure:
* The state exercised effective regulations on the society by means of planning.
* The state brought all of its social members into an administrative pattern, qhere everyone belonged to an organization or work unit.
* The diversified interest pursuits did not emerge and social autonomous power was weak by planned economic system and politicized society.
The dynamics of China´s present change in social structure was initiated by the following aspects:
* The transition from a society ruled by man to that ruled by law.
* The transition from a planned economy to a market economy.
