* Personalized Rule at the Top (the Core)
No formal rules define the relationship among the leaders and what they could or could not do; they are above the law and they are the law.

* Mishus
Individuals who are close to the top leaders but are not a part of the bureaucratic system. They wield an extra-ordinary power in Chinese political system.

* Kous
Not fixed and the relative importance of different Kous, change from time to time.

Four major Kous:
1) party affairs
2) government work
3) state security
4) foreign affairs

* Xitong

Six major Xitongs:

6) military

Prior to the mid1980's when the change began, there were three essential characteristics in China's social structure:

* The state exercised effective regulations on the society by means of planning.
* The state brought all of its social members into an administrative pattern, qhere everyone belonged to an organization or work unit.
* The diversified interest pursuits did not emerge and social autonomous power was weak by planned economic system and politicized society.

The dynamics of China´s present change in social structure was initiated by the following aspects:

* The transition from a society ruled by man to that ruled by law.
* The transition from a planned economy to a market economy.
