I'm curious why is 10:10 the default time always being shown on analog clocks/watches in stores/print ads?

Yeah, I remember talking about this in some marketing class.

10:10 frames up the logo on the watch nicely without appearing uncomfortable in the shot.

Although a Snopes reference would seem to trump all others :), I did like this link: http://trickofmind.com/2008/04/analog-clock.html which offers a number of more creative answers, including "it looks like a smile".

But the "not to get in the way of the logo" answer is almost certainly the right one.
