Egyptian Solar God Worship involves a struggle between the Pharaoh's soul and an avatar of Osiris, while Mayan Solar God worship involves human sacrifices.

-quote-

"Egyptian Sun Worship

Sun worship was exceptionally prevalent in ancient Egyptian religion. The earliest deities associated with the sun are Wadjet, Sekhmet, Hathor, Nut, Bast, Bat, and Menhit. First Hathor, and then Isis, give birth to and nurse Horus and Ra.

The Sun's movement across the sky represents a struggle between the Pharaoh's soul and an avatar of Osiris. The "solarisation" of several local gods (Hnum-Re, Min-Re, Amon-Re) reaches its peak in the period of the fifth dynasty.

Mayan Sun Worship

According to their cosmology, each sun was a god with its own cosmic era. According to the Aztecs, they were still in Tonatiuh's era. According to the Aztec creation myth, the god demanded human sacrifice as tribute and without it would refuse to move through the sky. It is said that 20,000 people were sacrificed each year to Tonatiuh and other gods, though this number is thought to be inflated either by the Aztecs, who wanted to inspire fear in their enemies, or the Spaniards, who wanted to vilify the Aztecs."

Did the Olmec's proceed the Mayans?

Did the Olmec require human sacrifice?

Your referencing Mayan Sun beliefs but quoting Aztec information. Is the known Mayan belief systems recorded by the Aztec?

Did the Mayans corrupt the belief system?

The Olmec and Mayan and the Aztec were very different in their belief systems.

Yes, the Olmec proceed the Mayans. Olmec worship involves bloodletting. Olmec's belief system has no evidence of Sun worship but only dieties.

-quote-

"The Olmec flourished during Mesoamerica's Formative period, dating roughly from 1400 BCE to about 400 BCE. They were the first Mesoamerican civilization and laid many of the foundations for the civilizations that followed. Among other "firsts", there is evidence that the Olmec practiced ritual bloodletting and played the Mesoamerican ballgame, hallmarks of nearly all subsequent Mesoamerican societies.

No Olmec or Olmec-influenced sacrificial artifacts have yet been discovered and there is no Olmec or Olmec-influenced artwork that unambiguously shows sacrificial victims (similar, for example, to the danzante figures of Monte Albán) or scenes of human sacrifice (such as can be seen in the famous ballcourt mural from El Tajin).

Olmec art shows that such deities as the Feathered Serpent and a rain supernatural were already in the Mesoamerican pantheon in Olmec times."

I agree that the Olmec did not practice human sacrifice.

What was the Mayan Sun Worship Mythology? Your describing Aztec Sun worship which did include human sacrifice.
