The worst public nuisance has to be being drunk in public.

I lived in the downtown areas of Denver and San Francisco and the one thing I hate to deal with walking down the street, is someone drunk yelling, screaming or trying to pee on me! I try to stay as far away from them as possible.

The second worst public nuisance has to be very bad performance art done by Jesus freaks who like Motown. Enjoy!

The drunks bothered me when I lived in SF. One or two, I could have taken pity on. But so many?

"Public nuisance" is far too general to give a meaningful answer. If someone is panhandling naked, I would do nothing but laugh and support his right to do so. If someone is urinating on parked cars, I would probably call the police. I'm not a snitch, so the person would have to be doing serious harm to other people or property before I'd feel the need to get involved.

It is a somewhat vague question... and it would take many things for me to determine what my reaction would be.... if someone would be harmed or something damaged that would be one thing... if a child was present and could be frightened or emotionally scared...if the nuisance was causing others to become agitated and a fight could ensue... I would contact the authorities. But if what they were doing wasn't harming anyone... in any way... I would just ignore them....

When I was growing up I was taught that I could do what I wanted as long as it didn't hurt someone else... I kind of still look at life through those glasses.

Define public nuisance? Legal status is any injury, loss or damage suffered by the community as a whole. This act started in 12th Century England when the King sought to punish anyone that infringed upon the King’s land, and blocked public roads or waterways. From that day forward the definition continues to change.

Nowadays, a public nuisance is anything from walking your dog in the wrong place at the wrong time to designing your home to look like a lighthouse that has fog horns that go off anytime there is a passerby.

If I witness a public nuisance, and I have. I take appropriate action. I once witness someone shooting common birds in the park with a bee bee gun. My immediate reaction was to phone the police. Another time I witnessed a couple of guys on a college campus walking away with a bike rack full of a t least 15 bikes. Mind you, it was broad daylight. On this occasion, my male friend stepped and started shouting and asking what they were doing. The “public nuisance” ran away.
