This is certainly a fairy tale come true, very much like the frog turned into a handsome prince when kissed by the princess. Similarly, the ugly woman turned into a beautiful woman after she married the doctor. There is nothing wrong in making somebody beautiful. This is like carving a piece of stone into a nice statue. What if she becomes ugly in her old age? So does everybody! On the contrary, the doctor must be praised as he succeeded in giving the woman a good feeling, a few days of beauty and glamour (even if it is temporary). A good thing or deed should not be condemned just because it is temporary. Every creation of God is mortal, every creature grows old and looks ugly, whether or not it undergoes plastic surgery. This is a victory of science and I see nothing wrong in it. There is nothing wrong in physical attraction either.

Relationships should be based on honesty and respect with each other no matter what size shape or looks they have.
Reading through the article it would appear this lady is as shallow and vein as most people who go under the knife and they are well suited.

I cannot believe this kind of story is actually happening. I just hope and pray that they will realize that physical beauty is not everything.

Some people are all about control, power and more control and more power. This is a horror story from start to finish. He's probably more in love with his own 'ability' to create - and poses - this woman he created. As for her, I am not sure of the motivation - attention, escape, who knows.
As long as government taxes didn't provide for her medical costs then that's about all I can say about it...

Why am I citing all this? Because there are always two parties involved, and the one who is up for transformation has some level of buy-in. No one locked the buxom blonde in the photo in a dungeon to work on her. Did we consider that perhaps she is ecstatic regarding this arrangement? That the two-way street was a complete winner for both?
There are very few true victims on this planet. I doubt she agreed to the surgeries just to "land" the doctor, or keep him for that matter. Now she (in their opinion) has looks AND personality! He initially fell for the brain, or the "potential." If she didn't take it as an insult that he wanted to modify the packaging, then why the shock and awe?

Dr Pygmalion or Dr Frankenstein?
The Sun is not often a newspaper that inspires much thought, but I found this article about a German plastic surgeon interesting to contemplate. The doctor met a woman he thought was ugly but had potential and married her. Being a plastic surgeon, he then proceeded to fix her up to look the way he wanted. He says he's in love with her now. Would you regard this story as a fairy tale come true, or a sci-fi horror story? Why?

I would say this is a Sci Fi horror story. Relationships should be based on honesty and respect with each other no matter what size shape or looks they have.

I think this is a Sci Fi horror story. He is just in love with what he's created no more no less. I cannot imagine what will happen if this woman ages and she will look less than what he made her look to be. For physical beauty fades. Both of them have their issues in life I guess. He for loving someone only when he find them attractive, and she for letting him use her just to make herself attractive. I cannot believe this kind of story is actually happening. I just hope and pray that they will realize that physical beauty is not everything.

Is it me or is her nose not so great...if you're going for 'perfection'...but I digress. Some people are all about control, power and more control and more power. This is a horror story from start to finish. He's probably more in love with his own 'ability' to create - and poses - this woman he created. As for her, I am not sure of the motivation - attention, escape, who knows.

I think he's got a way to go too. But he plans to continue to perfect her. He's more of a self help sort of guy than someone looking for government handouts, he had his own nose improved by a coworker in some sort of exchange deal.

The Pygmalion complex is as old Greek myth. It was the basis for My Fair Lady. Generally, it refers to a man's desire and ability to transform a woman within his power to do so. Henry Higgins took a flower girl and "pulled off" a princess. In the process, he fell in love with Eliza, and she with him.

In that tale, wasn't the horror part that their brains were affected and they lost their personalities? That doesn't seem to be the case here.
