Yes, this has gone too far!
Seriously? A shoe designer thinks that Barbie, the doll with legs 20% longer than any real woman could have, has cankles?
Even Pregnant Barbie doesn't have cankles -

and if ever a Barbie might be prone to cankles, it would be the preggers version.
Yes, it has gone too far. We bombard girls and boys, teens, and young women and men with images of "perfection" which don't reflect reality. We do this with dolls, print publications, cartoons, TV, movies, and fashion ads (in which models are either airbrushed before the shoot or photo-shopped after). We've done so since the 60's. We've created a fairytale of perfection, and children have become indoctrinated to believe that *they* are somehow flawed unless they can reach these impossible standards.
Teaching self-acceptance and the concept of "personal best" whether it's in sports, school, or appearance, can undo some of the damage to young egos. But sometimes the damage takes a lot longer to overcome.
Yes, it has gone too far.

And this really is another step into that. And into an area I do not think even the magicians on nip/tuck could do anything about. You cannot make bony ankles smaller. And to do this to accommodate a designer who sells shoes that so few of Barbie's fans will ever wear, or have the money to buy is just ridiculous.
Not as bad as "Oreo barbie" but at least that one makes me laugh.

I have always been an anti-fan of Barbie. The usual reasons, really. Corporate capitalization of the self images of young women. Setting unrealistic goals for young girls, all that jazz. And this really is another step into that. And into an area I do not think even the magicians on nip/tuck could do anything about. You cannot make bony ankles smaller. And to do this to accommodate a designer who sells shoes that so few of Barbie's fans will ever wear, or have the money to buy is just ridiculous.
