I live in the United States

Do I trust my government to what? I trust myself and I am the government.

I have to trust my government to keep my sanity but there is a limit. I have to believe that the government is *by the people* and *for the people* if I don't I am obligated to revolt.

So far in my 38 years the government has been static if change is static and that is what I have come to know and trust.

I trust the government will change because I (we) will in the processes of the government change the government.

Isn't that a rather wide-eyed view? Don't you think that the gov't might be just telling you what you want to hear, but doing what it wants anyway? You have the ability to change the gov't, yes, but only once every 4 years, and one party is probably the same as the next, and they aren't the ones who pull the strings, so how much change can you really expect?
I applaud your determination that the people can change the course of gov't, but how realistic is that really? With all the unjust things that are happening, (oil war in the Middle East, Gov't eavesdropping on its own people, US Gov't and military imprisoning foreigners without charge, etc, etc), why aren't there revolts in the streets? Surely it must be because the gov't is telling you that it's all for your own good. In that way they can sell you anything! (No offence intended).

I'll give you best answer, though, because your words cause me to think more than the others'.

No offense taken I appreciate your comment.

The government will of course tell me what I and us all what we want to hear if they don't there will be a civil war. One never really knows how close this country is to civil war, there could be the next "shot heard 'round the world" today here on our soil. Times are trying.

I agree much of what is going on here in the USA and around the world makes a man want to scream out and demand **immediate armed insurrection** but that is not always the best plan for the long run if the new American party wants to have long term success and respect. That revolting party might do best to silently revolt from within.

I believe the pace by which we can change the government although frustrating sometimes is for the best and certainly key item to the success of our government. Are there other governments on the planet that change rapidly such as in an actual war that maintain stability? The key to real American success will be in the attention of concerned citizens acting appropriately within the confines of the system in place as not to foster distrust and limit angst ridden rebellion from dissenters in the future by setting the example of how to take over a country from within.
