Actually, I think it's a possibility that he'll stay in Italy. AC Milan is meeting with Beckham's manager in the next few days and if the team is willing to offset whatever financial loss Beckham might incur by skipping out on his Galaxy contract, it might be more appealing to him to stay, perhaps for the exact reason that he didn't change the scope of American soccer in his first year and probably won't in his second year.
He recently said that "the
possibility of playing for Milan is something special. I knew I would enjoy
myself, but I wasn't expecting to enjoy myself so much."
That said, he and Posh are probably just looking for a reason to hang in Hollywood, so he'll probably come back.

Yes, Beckham has been quoted as saying regarding the AC Milan deal, 'It also gives me a chance to keep my fitness up and also carry that on for when I come back to the Galaxy for the MLS season'. So, even though he is on loan, I think he will return to LA for one last season with the Galaxy. I don;t think he changed the game in the states like he thought he would be able to.
