However, if they progress to the first knockout phase, they will either face number one or number two of group D, which will most probably be either Germany or Australia World Cup Team). I don't think Team USA stands a chance against Germany, and Australia will be a real challenge. Australia is ranked first in continental ranking, and on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, they are currently ranked 20, after being number 14 in 2009.
Effectively, my prognosis is the United States to reach the last 16, but be eliminated in that round.

I hope the US doesn't focus too much on England and forget to get up for the games with Slovenia and Algeria. Either team can beat them if they don't play well.
I really hope to see them go far but I'm concerned with the injuries. I fear they may make squeak by the first round, then get bounced soon after.

The scary thing is that everybody thinks that Algeria is a horrible team and USA should easily beat them. What they do not realize is that Algeria kicked Egypt out of the World Cup in the qualification. Egypt, by the way, is ranked #10 and the defending African Champs!!! If USA doesn't treat that match seriously I fear that it will be a disastrous world cup for USA.
