So Michael Jackson's "new" song is over 20 years old? Written by Paul Anka? MJ stole the tape?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

"This Is It" was co-written by Paul Anka and Michael Jackson in 1983 and was called "I Never Heard". It was supposed to be released back then on a duet album but never was.
In 1991, a Puerto Rican singer named Safire recorded it.
The new release had some different lyrics but the same melody. So, yes this is a song written by Anka and Jackson.
According to Paul Anka here :
"Anka said he had recognised the music he wrote after hearing This Is It.
"They realised it's a mistake," said Anka. "They realised it's my song, they realised it's my production of his vocal in my studio, and I'm getting 50 percent, actually, of the whole project, which is fair."
As for who Paul Anka is, he was a popular idol in the '50s and '60s and had many great songs. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001912/bio
