So many tents! What is an appropriate size for a family of four? Are the ones with dividers better?

Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would go bigger than a four person tent. You'll have more room. Four person means that 4 people can sleep in there, but there won't be much room for anything else. Look for one that sleeps 6 or more depending on how much gear/belongings you'll have. Also, if you plan to use air mattresses you'll need a bit more space. Tents with more that one room tend to be a little more expensive. I think it's a personal preference if you want one room or more. They will give you some privacy, but not much since you will still be in a tent. You can also sleep in one room of the tent and store your stuff in the other room.

To answer your question robbrown, people might have extra gear, for hiking, likely some clothes, maybe a cd player. If you are camping with teenagers or even kids that are almost teens they will bring a lot of stuff with them. I guess you could store things in your vehicle. But I'm sure most people would have some items that they would like in their tent. Also some people might want to have a little more space.
