So is the 10.5 Leopard an upgrade disk or a complete OS replacement ? or what is the disk called that I am going to be searching for ?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

All retail purchased Mac OS X discs contain the full and complete OS. The system discs that come with your Mac are also a complete OS. However, these discs can not be used on another Mac of a different model. Example: A 10.x disc that came with your iMac could not be used to upgrade or install on a MacBook. The install will fail but usually leave your old system intact.

If you are wanting to upgrade you need to purchase the full retail copy. Currently OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is the current OS sold by Apple. If you had OS X 10.4 you would have to pay $129 to upgrade to 10.6. If you have OS X 10.5 then you would only pay $29 for 10.6. The disc is labeled as an upgrade disc but actually contains the full OS, so if you needed to do a fresh clean install from that disc you can.
