Should my manufacturing company seek funding at events like DEMO or TechCrunch?

We are a maker of Solar Panels for homes and business. Is this considered "high tech" and would TechCrunch be an appropriate place to look for investors?

The short answer to your question is "probably not." Manufacturing solar panels are somewhat of a commodity business. This means that you either need to be able to achieve massive scale to be able to compete on price and/or have some sort of technology that makes your panels better/more efficient/etc than those of your competitors. In addition to that, manufacturing solar panels tends to be a very capital intensive business. If you look at companies that present at TechCrunch and/or DEMO, the majority of these companies tend to be very capital efficient consumer Internet companies. My advise would be to consider other avenues for capital. Good luck.
