A good, homemade exfolatior for legs?

Going to a wedding in two weeks, would like to get my legs in dress-wearing, dancing shape. Anyone know of a good home-made exfoliating scrub they have used and that has worked well?

Salt works well. Just wet your body in the shower then apply sea salt on legs and scrub in circular motion. rinse off. It leaves skin really soft and make you feel refreshed after. another thing i sometime use is cinamon and honey. BUT test on a small patch of skin first because cinamon can be very irritating and scrubbing too hard will be painful. You can also buy a exfoliating glove. Can use whatever body wash with it but will still have extremely soft legs.

i actually tried this two days ago. It left my skin feeling refreshed and smooth.
Three-quarters of a cup of baking soda and one-quarter cup of water. Mix three-quarters of a cup of banking soda with one-quarter cup of water. Gently rub on your face for three minutes, and rinse off.

I recommend using a scrub that uses sugar and not salt. Before putting it on you, rub some lotion on your legs. Any lotion will really do, but I always put lotion on. Then exfoliate with the sugar scrub. I have about 6 different kinds, they all work fine. Don't rinse under the water yet though. Sugar will dissolve in water. It takes a little bit of time, but it keeps the crystals harder then if you were doing it with the water running.

After you exfoliate them rinse off everything then shave your legs. Because you used sugar and not salt, you will not irritate your skin and have those unsightly red bumps. Make sure you get everything off though b/c you don't want your razor being full of crap.

Hope this helps. :)

I have psoriasis and find it helpful to exfoliate with a home made paste. I simply mix plain oatmeal, sugar, and water. I typically use this on my face to keep it looking well so it should be perfectly fine to use on your legs. You want the paste to be a little bit on the thick side too. Mix it to the desired consistency, the sugar is the main exfoliating ingredient and the oatmeal helps but is also very soothing to the skin. Try it, hope this helps.

The only exfoliator I have ever personally made at home is a mixture of sugar and olive oil. It worked well, although it was a little messy. I like using olive oil on my skin for shaving occasionally and the exfoliation provided by the sugar was an added benefit. I also added a little bit of Vitamin E and water because the mixture was pretty dry.

There are lots of other homemade exfoliation options on these 2 sites:

I really want to try the coffee sugar scrub!

" How To Make Your Natural Homemade Body Scrub

To make a scrub, all you need to do is to pair a naturally abrasive ingredient with a soothing and moisturizing base. The most popular and practical abrasive for homemade body scrubs is sugar. Sugar's small grains and ability to melt easily make it the least damaging abrasive, so you can be sure that your sugar based body scrub will help your skin rather than harm it.

To make a gentle base for your invigorating and exfoliating sugar, start with your favorite fruit. Strawberries, mangos, and bananas are three classic body scrub ingredients that will soothe and protect your skin. For every two cups of thoroughly mashed fruit, add a tablespoon of sugar. For extra soothing power, add a tablespoon of rich honey which will give your skin a luxurious shine.

Tips For Best Results From Your Homemade Body Scrub

For the best results, apply your homemade body scrub in the shower after gently cleansing your skin. Use a circular motion to buff away dead skin cells, and pay extra attention to rough areas like elbows and knees. Allow your scrub to linger on your skin for three to four minutes so that your skin can absorb the nutrients from the fruit, and then rinse away your homemade scrub in lukewarm water. Pat your skin dry gently to seal the moisture into your newly revealed fresh layer of glowing skin."

Another that votes for a sugar scrub. I have used sugar, but didn't like it at all! Every little shaving nick or boo-boo throbs when you rub salt in it!

Take a cup of normal sugar. Add enough olive oil to get the mixture moist, not soaking wet. Take the blend in the tub (bath, not shower, to make sure you don't slip.) Rub the mixture on your arms and legs, paying special attention to elbows, knees, and feet.

When you're done, pat dry, don't rub. Then make the kids clean the tub.

If you want to play with the good stuff, let me know and I'll help you formulate an emulsified sugar scrub.

The simplest I have found...salt and sugar scrubs!!

Take 2 parts salt or sugar (the plain 'ol cheap stuff is best) and 1 part water and smooth on legs, elbows, feet, etc.

Works great and is CHEAP!!

One cup of oatmeal, your choice of moisturizer mixed...
Make it as thick or thin as you wish.... I also included a link to many more homemade recipes in the source below.

I always used the salt and sugar, but sometimes I put some shredded apples, avocado and oatmeal. They are very good in exfoliating skin, the best way to get your skin so soft. You can find them only in your kitchen, so you will not spend money on this. So try this and get your satisfaction.
