I think John Mayer's Variety show will be great. He is way more likable and less-controversial than Rosie, so I think that will help his cause. Plus, the man is hilarious. Anyone who has seen him live can attest to the comical/witty banter that goes on between songs. Not only that, but he has even tried his hand at some amateur stand-up comedy. Another testament to his sense of humor is the one-time VH1 special he did that was called "John Mayer has a TV show." It included such bits as Mayer, dressed in a bear suit, mingling with unaware fans before a show. He never gave up his cover, and even insulted himself to the fans to get a reaction. On the same show, he also did a duet with rapper Trick Daddy in a Nashville bar.

He has also shown his sense of humor on the VH1 series Best Week Ever. His Chocolate Rain remix is quiet memorable:

He even dressed up in Borat-style Mankini on a fan cruise last year.

All of these demonstrations of a sense of humor combined with his undeniable musical talent and intelligence, have me dying to see what his Variety Show will have in store.

In all honesty, though, I'm more interested to see what the Osbourne family variety show will be like. I've been intrigued by this dysfunctional family ever since their first reality show on MTV, and I can only imagine what sort of strange and twisted entertainment they plan to provide on a reality show. Hate them or love them, there's no denying that they are a great source of entertainment simply for how bizarre they are.

this is just my opinion, but I say based on disposition of character alone John will be more successful. Not judging anyone, like I say, just my opinion. with a show you have to look at the likability factor and I say John is a lot more likable than Rosie. And come on, when your significant other is Jennifer Aniston!? Obviously John is a very talented musician but I also think he is pretty funny as well, a quick wit about him. I would watch his show, I did not and would not watch Rosie's show.

I think it will simply for the fact that John Mayer is a million times more likeable than Rosie. Over the past few years Rosie has essentially turned herself into a person that is fairly disliked by the general public. I think people were naturally inclined to avoid anything featuring this woman who has shown herself to be rude, confrontational, and quite frankly, annoying. Mayer, on the other hand, has blossomed by showing people that he has an excellent sense of humor in addition to his musical abilities. It sounds like his premise of mixing sketch comedy and musical numbers is perfect for him. It will all boil down to the crew that handles the entertainment duties and if they will prove to be fresh entertainers. In all honesty, though, I'm more interested to see what the Osbourne family variety show will be like. As of right now I believe it's only supposed to be a special, if the special pulls in high enough ratings they will most likely give it a season. Similar to how they set up Knight rider(which is still an awful show). I think it is going to do better the Rosie because he is currently much more bankable. Also the idea of a variety or sketch show is currently a theme for TV this year. No one still knows what Leno is going to do at 10p but I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be essentially a variety show.
