Singularity University, what is it and how does it work?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Singularity university is a place where scientists, under Ray Kurzweil, who have basically predicted that there will soon be huge technological breakthroughs, such as AIs and nanotechnology.  They believe that a singularity is coming which is "a theorised period of rapid technological progress in the near future."  Some people are afraid of it because they watched the Matrix and Terminator one too many times.

Singularity is the moment before the big bang of the universe. That time when everything, I mean everything in the universe was compacted into an dense dot.
