Since Amphetamines are used in adderall, can it be habit forming?

How can I be certain that I have not become addicted to adderall? What if I'm allergic to amphetamines?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes, as an amphetamine, adderall can be habit forming. That is why it is so important to only use it for it's intended purpose, which is the treatment of ADD or ADHD. You should also never adjust your own dosage, neither increasing or decreasing, without the direction of your doctor. Persons that take adderall for their ADHD are unlikely to become addicted because the medicine is used only at a therapeutic level and does not generally create a "high" for the patient. But, for some peace of mind here are some signs of a person addicted to amphetamines.

- If you find yourself looking to buy adderall without a prescription. For example, trying to buy it from an internet pharmacy without a prescription or if you find yourself trying to "score" adderall from an unauthorized supplier.

-If you find yourself using the drug for a different purpose other than that for which it was intended. For example, if you use it to feel more confident or to help you study.

-If you take more than you should even if you have a prescription. If you take medicine differently from how you were instructed by a doctor, you are abusing the drug.

-If you fake symptoms to get a prescription for adderall.

If you are doing none of these things and are taking your medicine only as you should, then you can be confident that you are not becoming an amphetamine abuser or addict. If you do notice some of these signs in yourself, please seek help. Amphetamine abuse is extremely dangerous.
