Silverware and fine ceramics, a good investment of a waste of money?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'd consider both to be good investments. Not that they'll keep up with the stock market in terms of value, but I think they're still more than worth the money. If you take care of them, they really don't have to have a limited life span at all. Besides, they're so much nicer and more classy than less pricey alternatives.

I don't know about collecting ceramics but silverware is a solid investment over time as you don't cash it in but pass it down through the generations. Even after your death as it stays in the family your memory will be remembered. I also have a grandfather clock I purchased 30 years ago to pass down also.

In this market both are a waste of time unless you feel you can hold on to it for a couple of years. My vote, waste of time and money.

While I don't find silver a waste of money I do find silverware a waste of silver lol Art I feel is a great investment..I'd say whether either was a waste or not would depend how you cared for or used it.

Ceramics are breakable, so I do not think they are a wise purchase. Silverware is classy, so it is a good purchase, in my opinion.

Neither of these is an investment unless you plan on reselling it.
