Should we get more points for questions that offer lower tips?

I think this would help answer more questions, since some people only go for the big tips.
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I like that idea quite a bit, actually. I think it would help solve the problem of generating more traffic and answers for the 25-centers. Hopefully since money is still a better motivator, many people will still decide to offer a substantial tip for their questions....but...us po' people deserve to have questions answered, too.

Plus I think it's very appropriate that users gain extra experience for helping out the underdog questions. It takes a lot of character and patience to go through and answer a bunch of cheap questions - seems fair to give a nice experience reward!

No. I usually try to answer questions that I find interesting or have an answer for, regardless of the tip. If it is a good answer, you will get more points if it is selected as a best answer. I just think that with all the twitter questions it is easy to get lost in the volume.

I don't think so. It appears to me that users do give good answers to "less valuable" questions - even ones that don't offer anything in tips.

It's fine for some people to try only for the "big questions," though, because that's how they choose to spend their time here - and some of them tend to offer really-good answers, which is always good for the community.

I would disagree that more points should be given to questions with lower tips. If a system was created that advocated your position, it would be tougher to prioritize which questions to answer from users and also would decrease the amount of money given to important questions or questions that need immediate attention by leading to lower Tips throughout all questions since the asker will then count on Mahalo to make it up in 'points'. Though I do like the fact more points are granted if you answer faster to ensure that questions get looked at quicker however since this is done universally in a given time slot, there's no issue of prioritization over other questions which may offer more money. So, in my humble opinion, I think market should dictate both pricing for questions and points should be allocated the way they currently are. Hope that helps and have a great day.

No, I believe the current structure of points and tips will promote better/more answers for offering a higher tip, if you were to offer more points for a lower tip then the larger tip would loose some of its edge in my opinion.
