Should we be more open about male infertility?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'm not sure what you mean by "open" but I think we should be more accepting and less judgmental about these things. A lower sperm count doesn't make one any less of a man, it is simply a medical condition.

Do you mean we should be more open with sexual partners? If it is a known condition it might be good to bring it up with a serious partner who may want children in the future, but there is no need to talk about it on a first date.

Keep in mind that some child-free women may see the condition as a benefit. For example, personally I have no desire for children so if my husband had no sperm it would save both of us the trauma and expense of a sterilization operation.
