Should there be a way to upgrade a non-tip question to a question with a tip?
I saw this question( http://www.mahalo.com/answers/web-development/how-do-you-add-a-tip-to-a-submitted-question ) whether or not there was a way to do this and though it would be great to get your feedback on if this would be an option you would use?
Sure you could always re-post the question, but if its a decent question and its just not getting the response you need and you've already flushed out that the responses you've received didn't answer your question.
My suggestion is to allow it by:
1) Mute any answers as "not satisfied/need more information/citation needed"
2) Alert the people who have tried to answer that the question has been upgraded, and for how much. Possibly give them the first shot, kind of like an "Answer it now!" before the question goes live again for a tip.
3) Give the user a space to elaborate on their question.
What do you think? Any other suggestions?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
