Should there be a limit on the number of questiosn one user can ask in a given time?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

What if M.A. created hot-topic "rooms", something like using # to follow a given topic on Twitter? The announcement could be made that the topic was moved to a subject-specific room, maybe a rolling counter updating at the top of the answers page or something to let people know it's active. But the individual questions wouldn't show on the regular spy scroll and/or answers main page.
...OR the creation of a customizable page allowing the user to block certain topics? Then we could filter out the topics of no concern to us individually.

M$Hmmm... THAT is another question ;-)
What if it went from a large daily limit (30 / day) to a smaller hourly limit (2 / hour) or something similar. That would still allow people to ask as many questions per day as they are now, but at a pace that doesn't let them flood the site.
Hmm. Okay. Thank you for that. Then the obvious corrolary question - should the limit be lowered? I'm of the opinion that it should.
The limits should be lower I think, if the purpose of Mahalo is to share knowledge rather than be a chat room.
But it's hard to set a limit that is high enough for serious use, but low enough to stop spamming. You might sometimes want to ask ten questions in day. But three users asking ten questions about a live event pretty much fills up the first few pages with stuff you might not care about.

Only problem I see with that is that people aren't required to choose the same category for all their spamming. There was, for example "Grammy", "Jennifer Hudson at Grammys", "John Smith's Grammy performance", etc etc.
