Should the winning league in the MLB All Star Game have home field advantage in the World Series?

Are you a National League fan or an American League fan and why?

Definitely not. It was an over-reactive decision made by commissioner Bud Selig after the 2002 All Star Game ended in a tie. Instead of just expanding the rosters or amending the rules to allow reentry, he thought playing for home field advantage would influence managers to do everything they could to win. All this does is make some pitchers not get in the game because the manager has to save a few of them, just in case the game goes into extra innings.

I guess if I had to choose, I would be an American League fan because I've been a Cleveland Indians fan since birth, but I like both leagues, and don't mind the contrast between the DH and pitchers batting.

YES! The winning league in MLB All Star Game should have home field advantage in the World Series. Frankly speaking, that is the only reward for winning, and is a valuable asset.

I agree it is a valuable asset but should it be awarded based on an exhibition game created for the fans as a ceblebration of great players? Don't you think that playing a great game and the bragging rights that come with winning the mid-summer classic should be the reward?

Are you a NL fan or and AL fan?

No, I think it's the most ridiculous thing that has been done in a long time. I'm a national league fan because my favorite team since 1977 has been the Phillies.

Kerryk

Do have any other reason for being a National League fan? for example How do you feel about the DH? Is a manager more important in the NL vs the AL?

I don't like the DH. To me it takes away a lot of strategy for the manager. The American League managers don't have to think about their pinch hitters as much, double switches, whether or not to keep their pitcher in the game who is due to bat in the upcoming inning, etc.

I think alternating years for home field advantage makes the most sense - keep the All Star game as a pure exhibition.

I was born a Yankees fan, and converted to the Red Sox when I reached adulthood and could think for myself, so I've been an American League fan my entire life. I believe strongly in the DH- it gives a manager much more flexibility in using his assets.

Yes, it makes the game mean something. I can't say which league I am a fan of. My two favorite teams represent both leagues (Red Sox and Cardinals).
