Should the war on terrorism be considered World War III?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes and no. World War implies involvement of quite a bit of the world. In the fact that quite a few countries has joined together against terrorism, then yes it is a world war. There is also a lot that's going on with it around the world, though true military action at the moment is localized in Iraq and Afghanistan. However, there is also the fact that war tends to imply army/armies against army/armies. The war on terror itself isn't army/armies against army/armies but networks against networks. It's largely intelligence against intelligence. Sure, that was the premise for the Cold War but then again this is decidely more heated and more public than the Cold War.

I do not think so, because world war means the war in all entire the world but terrorism is just in certain countries.

I would say no not really, reason being if it was world war three more countries would be involved, more things would be wrong more stuff dropped and more people suffering , things like that. I think if there was a world war three it would be all out and like nothing ever before because of the new techniques and tools they have today.
