about Los Angeles Kings
Should the Kings trade for Ilya Kovalchuk or keep the team together as is?
The Kings have won seven straight and playing great, but Kovalchuk is out there for trade bait. Should we make the bold move or stay patient with the kids?

As someone who covers the team, I can tell you that this is a very interesting question to discuss right now. Yes, the team is winning currently. Yes, they are playing well in all phases of the game. Yes, Kopi and Brown are back on their respective games, Doughty has been Norris Trophy worthy, and Quick has been their best player all season.
Still, when you get a chance to grab a 50-goal scorer, you have to try (within reason) to do so, because there are so few of them. It's a delicate situation because you don't want to give up too much to get him (no way would I part with Simmonds in any deal right now), so you want to try and wait until just before the trade deadline so that Atlanta will need to make a move just to get something for him. On the other hand, wait too long and another team could jump ahead by deciding that they can spend the asking price.
Rumors will continue to swirl to say the least until next week's Olympic roster freeze. Stay tuned!
