Should people who love The Dark Knight watch it instead of the Oscars?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00

I think you should watch The Dark Knight, definitely. Catch Oscar hilights later if you wish. I mean, what's the point in watching the best supporting actor part if Heath Ledger *doesn't* win it, eh?

The amazing way they did that truck-flip (that was *real*) ..and the ending. Perfect ending. So rare in Hollywood these days to have a perfect ending. I want the sequel. :)

You have to consider many things for this question. My instinct would tell me yes. Yes, you should watch the Dark Knight. But why would you watch this if you have seen it before. I understand that you like it, but overuse of your memory recall of a film can produce a boredom factor. Watch it again in a few months, to keep the suspense alive. Then again, watching Oscars is kind of pointless. In my opinion, it should only be printed as a list. The general public is not interested in the show of presentation to the elite. The results are all that matter. Back to your question. Don't watch either. Experience something new. Do something exciting, instead of limiting yourself to an already enjoyed film or a 3 hour trophy presentation. Experience life. Hope this helps.

A lot of Dark Knight movie fans are upset it was nominated for the Oscars.

Although I feel none of their pain.

The Academy Award has always favored Art House style movies versus raw action packed movies with lots of special effects and cgi. That is why IMO Slumdog Millionare is the favored to win the award.

If you ask any film maker. The main reason they make movies is to tell a good story. Hollywood studios currently have an acute shortage of 'creativity' in making original movies. We have been inundated by countless movie remakes, 3 movie sequel productions, videogame to movie films and comic book to movie films.

The Batman story has been remade too many times in animation, tv and movies form. It feels like an old and tired franchise. Its like a James Bond movie. It basically has the same plot. No matter how hard you try to make the movie fresh with new ideas.

Funny you should mention series that are getting tired. I was just thinking about the star trek franchise. It was very clever of them to pull all the currently running series off the air before the summer 09 release of the remake of the original star trek. I think it was a disappointment to the fans at the time but now I understand why they did it and it was rather clever. I know this has nothing to do with the Dark Knight directly but your comment made me think of that. It might have been a better Idea for them to do a similar marketing strategy. I think you are right though they really have over driven the batman franchise and the super hero market in general. It seems every time you turn around there is a new super hero movie out or graphic novel adaption. Don't get me wrong I enjoy them but it's just starting make the whole genre stale.

I am not fond of large social gatherings of people who overly self-important.

I would say... Watch the dark knight If that is your only other option. It was a fairly good film though a tish over acted at points. Still it beats the award show which is over acted all the time. I mean the drama on the red carpet alone is amazing.I am surprised Hollywood has not made a series out of it yet. "Today on this episode of THE CARPET." lmao

I don't watch the Oscars and I haven't seen the Dark Knight. I'll be watching some other show that night or else I'll be reading a book or else I'll be answering questions on Mahalo.

Definitely. The Oscars aren't something you watch; they're something you read about in the news tomorrow. They can't compete with an actual movie.

Yes

The only awards show I watch is The Grammys, and that's only for the performances, not the awards.

I love movies, and I will be working the film industry after film school; but the Oscars are boring! Who cares about the boring acceptance speeches were the winners merely list off names of people who helped them but the audience does not care about?!!?

I love The Dark Knight, and I've seen it twice in iMax. I may buy the DVD and see it! I definitely WON'T be watching the oscars!

The only reason to watch the Oscars is if you have a burning desire to find out who wins what. If there is no impatience factor for you, then why spend several hours on something that doesn't hold that much importance for you? Do something with your time that *does* matter to you, whether it's enjoying Dark Knight, or running, or reading. It's your time to spend, no matter how the culture at large would have you believe there is something more important to spend it on.
