Should my kitten wear a helmet at all times?
I don't believe her stupidity is due to any special retardedness, she is just a cat, and young. But I am thinking that we should probably fashion her a little kitty helmet because a) if you had a child doing all of those things, you would think they were retarded, and probably make them wear a helmet, and b) even if they weren't retarded, if they were pulling stunts like that you would want them to be protected.

There are dangers yet unseen in the land of clumsy kitties. These two are always on the look out for unprotected kitties with questionable balance.
There are plenty of kitty helmets available and certainly one with your kitties name on it. There are even some with friendly kitty greetings or sports team logos on them.
Just to be safe and stay fashionable ..do what is best for your kitty and keep the sweet little thing safe for the Holidays!

M$Kittens are clumsy by nature. The slip, fall and crash into things when they're playing. Many kittens can fall head first and land on their feet. Bumping into things could be an indication of eye problems or even hearing issues. I don't think a helmet is necessary but are you sure she can see??

It's not hurting them. Putting a helmet on them, however would be a horrible thing to do.Abusive even. Have you ever seen a cat with a collar so that they can't lick wounds out of surgery? And that is necessary! Do you see how hard that is on them if you have? You're talking about putting a HELMET on a cat.
I'm sorry I have to disagree with you but the idea is ridiculous. This has nothing to do with smoking OR (or what you call retarded). BTW, I have a child that is MR who has balance issues due to gross motor skills and takes horrible falls at times. Do you think my occupational therapist would tell me to put a helmet on him? Of course not. He's not having seizures or constantly banging his head into walls.

Yes, she can see and yes, I believe this is probably normal for a kitten. And I know it is also normal to let kittens run around the house out of control without any protection.
However, what is normal today may be considered completely irresponsible within a few generations. For example, smoking used to be completely acceptable. Also, early on, very few automobiles contained seat belts. And many people died or sustained head injuries leaving them severely retarded because of it.
So the point is that just because it is normal for kittens to crash into things and to let them do it without safety precautions, doesn't mean that it is rational or responsible.
After all the looking I have done I cannot find a serious company that really makes a helmet for cats with the exclusive purpose of feline safety.
Everything I find is about cat proofing you home and changing the way you live and what you live in to protect the cat from itself.
