I think Major League Baseball has a couple of options. If they decide to add two more wild card teams, then they should cut the schedule back. If they don't the season could run well into November with the potential of several games being delayed if played at night in cold weather cities. They could play those playoff games during the day, but will risk losing much money due to the fact that many people wont be able to go or watch the games on television due to school or work. They could also shorten all playoff series to 5 games with the exception of the World Series. That would make the season end around the same time that it currently does. They could start the season in mid March and end at the same time with the added teams, but again there is risk of games being snowed out in the cold weather cities. If it was possible to schedule all early games in warm weather cities, that would be ideal. But I don't see how that is possible. Keep the season as is or cut back on regular season games. Those are the only two options that work.
