Should Mahalo Answers develop a iPhone app / mobile app?

I think it should, but do you think it would encourage shorter / less detailed responses?
Also - you can't cut and paste links on the iPhone, so would that render it useless for anything other than opinion related responses?
Thoughts?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I was thinking about this yesterday and how much I would love having Answers on my iphone, but you raise a great point about citations.

What if you could post answers from the phone but they are worth fewer points?
Or perhaps they get added to a queue in your profile so that the next time you log in on a computer it reminds you to find sources for each answer?

Yes!
It would encourage me to make more answers, but they would definitely be shorter, and never contain citing.

I have an iPhone. :D

Well you could also develop some kind of Twitter integration that could use the Direct Messages to update you on questions/answers of your interest, based on settings configured in Mahalo.

The main Mahalo ID's tweets could consist of updates to Mahalo and new questions with tips to encourage users to ask and answer them as well.

Thanks :)

I guess I forgot to mention it in my original post, but if it integrates with third-party communities people are already active in, you wouldn't really need to develop a new application.

I think a good mobile site that works with most/all mobile platforms would be a great thing, as well as Twitter integration. However, the iPhone is such a popular platform that a standalone app for that would be a great idea as well, assuming Mahalo has the resources to get it done (which I'm sure they do/will soon).

Yes Mahalo should have a mobile app/iphone app. this would be great because we could get questions answered on the fly. Also if you have time to kill, you could answer questions and help others while your not at your computer.

No, they should devlop a mobile web app that targets device platforms that have webkit and the javascript bridge using html, css, and javascript.and it just so happens that Android, iPhone, Symbian S60, and Blackberrys are in that group.

That way they have one code based that covers many mobile platforms. Kind of similar to my current XSpot development process.

Yes. It would be a smart idea. Everyone is on their phones these days. iPhones are becoming ubiquitous. I don't think you would need full access like to answer and all that, but definitely to search and rate at least.

It is important to develop a mobile website aimed for all mobile devices and also an app for the iPhone.

It would be a definate good move for them. The simple exposure would increase their membership...at the same time, I kinda hope they don't...this place is adicting enough while sitting in front of my computer, nevermind while I'm sitting in traffic...

Definitely.

It would be cool if you could rate answers by shaking the phone!

Bad answers: shake down
Good answers: shake up
Best answer: big big shake!!!

A mobile web app might be a better option to be compatible with more devices (Blackberry, Android, etc).

Absolutely. Anything like that would help to raise the profile of Mahalo, bring in more users and therefore make it stronger.
