Should I still attend gym if I have a sprained ankle?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

While things may have changed since I was in high school, I doubt the roll call rules have changed. Students are required to be in each class a certain amount of days in order to get credit for taking the class. You do not want to miss even if you have a sprained ankle. The thing to do is to go to the doctor and get a slip from him excusing you from class. This does not mean you do not have to show up, it means you do not have to participate. Without the doctors slip you may be required to participate… It would depend on the teacher and/or the school rules. By taking this route, you are in the class, yet not participating due to the nature of your injury, that way you still get the credit for being in class.

If your ankle is sprained badly enough that you shouldn't take part in gym class, get a note from your doctor excusing you from activity. Participating in strenuous activity too soon after a moderate or severe sprain will prolong the healing time. You should still attend the class to you are not listed as absent but give your note to your teacher and the sit out the class on the side.

If your ankle isn't bad, just a mild sprain and you don't have a doctors excuse, tell your teacher ahead of time about the sprain, go in and participate the best you can, just being careful not to overdo it and hurt the ankle even more. If you must participate, make sure the ankle is wrapped for more support and perhaps wearing some high top sneakers for additional support.
