should i send my draft to well know authors to see if they have any input on the story?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There is an "how to" on publishing a short story. Maybe this can help you:

If you want someone to edit your story you should think about people that you personally know and that will give you a honest opinion of your work.

M$You might be better off to try to find a volunteer beta reader, preferably someone you know and trust to do a good job. If you don't belong to a writer's group, there are some online groups. At least one of them, Absolute Write, has a forum that puts writers and beta readers together: http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/index.php
