Should I remove the Calvin Klein label from my jacket?

I bought a new jacket and there is a fabric "Calvin Klein" label sewn on the sleeve. Do I remove it, or leave it on?
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If I'm not misunderstanding, you are referring to the narrow strip of cloth above the wrist that has the brand name, possibly the size, the material the coat is made of, and is sewn on either ends very lightly.
That is meant to be removed from the sleeve, not kept there. Those who keep it are akin to those who keep stickers and tags on their baseball caps: tasteless.
The garment will speak for itself, there is no need to leave a manufacturing tag to show people you can afford said coat (or that it's genuine).

Put it this way: do wish to look like a dork walking around with the label still on the sleeve? ;-)

As an interesting aside, I heard that in China, people rich enough to buy Armani suits do keep the label on the sleeve to show people that they're wearing an Armani jacket. But people would probably suspect that it was counterfeit anyway.

I would take it off right away if it was easy to remove.

Why would you remove it?
Unless it is causing discomfort or you feel uncomfortable sharing your choice of designer, I see no reason to.

Most people who see others wearing blatantly branded clothing are bound to think that the article is counterfeit. This is especially true for very popular Western brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Raplh Lauren. Unless you're comfortable with that kind of scrutiny, you'd best remove the label.

On a side note, most mid- to high-end brands nowadays design their clothing to be as 'brand inconspicuous' as possible by hiding labels or at least being very discreet about them. Gone are the 90's days when bigger meant better for clothing labels.
