Should I look into managing a Mahalo page?
The problem is this though. I am quite intimidated by it. I read over the tutorial and did a search to see what was available. There seems to be alot to it. I just don't want to jump in and drown. How can you learn to manage a page in slow steps, or do I have to just jump right in there.
What I am looking for is your first experience and how long did it take you to feel like you were competetent in managing your page.

i recommend starting through the task system. look through and find a topic that sounds interesting.
the reason i recommend tasks is twofold.
1. you always start with a template. sometimes when you just request a page there is no template that fits it
2. you get immediate feedback from an experienced person. the QC team is pretty great at giving suggestions. i've personally learned a lot from them.
and then for ongoing help, next week a new system starts where you will have a vertical manager for your pages. this person is available for your questions, and will have experience in the same category that your page is in.

M$And I say YES you should give it a try! It's worthwhile to really get to know how Mahalo works, and it's the pathway to making some really big bucks around here (plus if you eventually want to earn your brown belt, you'll need to have a few pages "under your belt" ha!).
I say you should just jump right in and get your feet wet. Here are some suggestions on how to do it:
1. Pick a page topic (that hasn't been written yet) that is about something you really enjoy and know well. A hobby. A food. Etc. If you keep it to something you know and love, it'll make the process a lot less intimidating.
2. Submit your page idea and put a good dollar amount on it. ($3?)
3. Once your page idea has been approved, just do your best. Sit down with a hot mug of coffee or tea, and do some nice research. Use wiki formatting, and just write the best way you know how. Add a video that would be something you'd enjoy watching. Write info that would be helpful to all types of readers. If any fixes are needed the team may bounce the page back to you, and that's okay. It's happened to all of us. Just take their tips and make the corrections.
4. Then once the page is approved and launched, just look at it as if you were a casual browser. How can you make it prettier? More interesting? Have fun making the page look amazing.
5. Then just check back once a week or so to add a new video, a new picture, a new paragraph of info, etc.
6. If it doesn't seem to make money right away, don't sweat it! If you advertise your page a little bit then it's just a matter of a couple weeks or months until your page until your page really has a chance to make some money. So be patient. ;)
Remember, just do it all one step at a time. And if there's any step where you just aren't sure what to do, ask anyone! Everyone around here would love to help you figure it out.

And there is no real downside to giving it a go.
Pick a page that maybe you're not so worried about messing up, and just give it a go!

M$In addition to all of the other great ideas that have been posted here, I would say start by just looking at some pages on a topic of interest to you. You can search for pages through google. For example to search for Mahalo pages about the Grand Canyon, go to Google and type in Grand Canyon site:mahalo.com It will pull up pages just on Mahalo that match for Grand Canyon. Then just sit back and enjoy as you read through several pages. The more you experience the way others have created pages, the easier it will be to create your own.
Then go back and re-read How to build a Mahalo page.

Don't be overwhelmed by the amount of information available on the topic of Mahalo page building and maintenance. Just start with the main How to build a mahalo page, then use the information from the related pages as the need arises.

Go on, dive in, dont be afraid, but make a note of every tip and hint you are given, making sure you fully understand what has been asked of you and ensuring you apply that new knowledge each time you create a new page.

Mahalo is not too hard...You just have to be in the hang of it.
There are alot of people who start Mahalo, and cant figure it out, because they say it is difficult.
It is not that hard, just do your best, research the topic a bit, and eventually you will doing as good as anyone on this game!
So manage your own page! I promise you, if you research the topic, and you know what your talking about, you will go far!

Who doesn't have some experience in THAT??? Go for it. You'll be glad you did, even if it isn't this task in particular.
I manage 18 pages, and I work hard (with guidance) to make them the best they can be. Everyone is new at some point. The fact that you're willing to put yourself out there is a great start!

I graduated from college in 1995, when I was 39 yrs. old. I had to work full time, raise a family and go to school. I graduated with a BA Magna Cum Laude in Psychology and Philosophy from Loyola University of Chicago. At that time I was pumping out 10-20 pg. papers with 15-20 resources. I look back on those papers and can't believe that I really wrote them. That's how out of it I've really been. I was going to get my masters in Social Work, but instead I had a baby at 41 yrs. old.
Now that I've had a chance to look over the pages that are on the web, they don't seem intimidating anymore. Take the plunge and move forward! Thanks Mahalo.
Researching Mahalo pages, joining every social media, networking and communities on the web. Researching as as possible those sources as well as google and Wikipedia. Having a lot of knowledge will produce a good product.
