Should I go for the HTC Desire HD or HD7 ?

I am thinking of buying a smartphone and I finally narrowed my search for the upcoming HTC handsets ; Desire HD and HD7.

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/10x1018iuob24r5deshd.jpg

Both of these phones are dropping for the market in a couple of days (expected) and both these devices look great when viewed from different aspects and got their pros and cons. For example, the 8MP of Desire HD vs the 5MP on the other hand, I like the design of Windows Phone 7.

I have gone through several comparisons of specs and also read some opinions. But none of them specified a particular handset.

Please mention which one you would for after, and explain the reason for the choice.

Note : I don't need a specs comparison. Also I am in Sri Lanka, so I don't need the deals from the mobile careers.

I just need to know what phone you would choose and your opinions about both.

Thanks.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you are needing the software that comes with the Windows 7 platform, I would suggest the HD7. There isn't a whole lot of need for a greater resolution camera for smart phones, and the quality of the 5 MP camera is more than adequate for most circumstances (unless you need to do some poster sized prints). There is also a wider screen for more reading area. It also may be speedier for working with the internet and the applications with a 30% faster processor. These features would make me lean towards the HD7 as a tool for interfacing with others in a work environment.

I know that there are more Android applications available at this time, but since there have been more than 1/2 million downloads of the win 7 software recently, developers will soon come out with more options that can provide some applications equivalent features related to the Android applications that may be more popular and appealing to windows users. One of the problems I see with the Android is that you are tied to your Google account for your contacts, while the win 7 allows a "stream-of-contacts system" across multiple accounts that you may have.

Thanks for answering.

What do you think about the Applications on both Android and Windows 7 ? There is a huge difference between the applications. But what about the quality of the applications?

No doubt, I would buy HTC Desire HD just because it's the only reasonable choice in this case ;) And I won't write here about it incredible specification - you've read them all, for sure. The main reason is that HTC Desire HD runs the latest Android OS which means for you a huge amount of extremely useful apps, open source technology, and if you're mobile developer - easy Android app development (Java).
P.S. Windows 7 has a quite good chance to become popular mobile OS in the next decade...
