Should I get the default iPad case or another one (and which one)?

Tip for best answer: M$1.02

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'd really have to wait and get my hands on Apple's case and 3rd party cases. The only reason Apple made a case is to have a great case for early adopters. Also they wanted to set the standard for case design and construction.

Remember the first iPhone cases? The ones that were in the Apple store on day one were awful. Non fit that great because manufacturers didn't have an iPhone to design a case around. You need more than just the specs.

The same holds true with the iPad. I'd hold off until the 2nd generation of 3rd party cases. Also the Apple case you know will fit well and the price is pretty reasonable considering it's the same price as much smaller iPhone cases.

Let us know what you ended up getting.

To me, this depends on how cool you want to look. With a name like "C.K", I'm going to guess that you're the sort of guy that enjoys champagne and strawberries on a Saturday night.

If so, you're going to want a fashionable iPad Case

Personally, I only want to be the coolest kid in Starbucks and as a result, I'm going to pick something a little more utilitarian:

My wife however said that she'd prefer something a little more hand-made (she's into that sort of thing) and she said that for hers, she'd like one of these cases that she found on Etsy:

So in the end, it's really up to you. The basic case will do it's job and protect your new friend but if you want it to look as cool as your name on paper, then you might want to consider a case that reflects a bit of personality.

The default Apple iPad case is okay and will work perfectly for protecting your iPad however there are at least two other cases that provide a little more versatility and protection.

Apple iPad Ultimate Carrying Case - $19.99. iPad`s should be protected from the elements and a place for the accessories. Apple offers a case that was created specifically for their new iPad. Their case has dual zippers, shoulder strap, made of nylon and comes in blue/gray, pink/magenta and brown. Sold at Amazon. http://www.i4u.com/article32143.html

The TrendyDigital design for the iPad is a water proof case that allows you to use your keyboard and navigation interface through the case yet keeps the dust and dirt from getting into the iPad. You can even use it in the bathtub. It has an adjustable strap, is clear with borders that can be purchased in blue or purple. Can be purchased at Amazon for $19.99. http://www.i4u.com/article32143.html

The ModulR iPad case is different than any of the other cases available. Although it is not scheduled to be released until the summer of 2010, it has been advertised to include a range of interchangeable accessory attachments. The accessories include a low profile wall mount, a collapsible display stand, a shoulder strap and a headrest accessory for the car. No details on price have been provided yet. http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/modulr-ipad-case-11-03-2010/
